Helping you create the life you desire

Personal Loss

Loss is a part of life. We can grieve for a variety of reasons at various times or ages. When grief debilitates, when a person feels unable to live normally while mourning their loss, that is when loss therapy becomes necessary.

Loss therapy offers healing for a wide range of losses.

While grieving is often associated with the death of a loved one, any loss can bring about a period of mourning. Change of any kind can appear as a difficult obstacle to overcome; loss therapy seeks to deal with the changes and challenges you face as a result of your loss. Through loss therapy sessions, the following can be addressed:

  • Job Loss - A variety of circumstances can bring about employment loss, thereby resulting in a diversity of emotional responses. Loss therapy assists you in handling your anger, guilt, or frustration.
  • Divorce - The loss associated with divorce is not limited to that of the marriage itself. Loss therapy can address the extreme changes that come with the end of a marriage.
  • Failure to Meet a Goal or Realize a Dream - Life can sometimes turn out differently than you'd hoped, despite your best efforts. Loss therapy helps you make peace with the life you've been given.
  • Emotional/Geographic Distance from Children - Everyone desires a close relationship with her children. In loss therapy you can explore ways to cope when a rift exists between you and your kids, when children move far away, or when you become an empty-nester.
  • Emotional/Geographic Distance from Parents - Your relationship with your parents is among the most significant of your life. It can be very difficult to move far away from beloved parents or experience a gradual emotional separation from them due to their dementia or another illness. Loss therapy can help relieve feelings of loneliness or guilt.
  • Infertility - The disappointment of infertility can bring with it an aching emptiness. Loss therapy helps you address your sadness, anger, and anxiety.
  • Loss of Community/Socialization - Moving to a new home forces you to leave behind the familiar and the comfortable, including dear friends and favorite activities. Loss therapy offers a means of adjusting to a new place and a new community.
  • Loss of Youth - Aging can prove to be a painful experience physically, mentally, and emotionally. It can be especially difficult when you feel you haven't achieved certain goals or milestones. Loss therapy can help you cope with the losses of aging and give you a more positive feeling about growing older.
  • A Sense of Isolation Stemming from a Debilitating Illness - Many losses can result from the onset of depression or a physical illness; feeling isolated is not uncommon. Loss therapy can ease the pains of loneliness.
